How Do I Choose the Right Tile and Coping for my Pool?

 

Swimming pools are necessity of life nowadays. They fulfil demand of family in summer and winter as well. At first, pools were created in some amusement places where people use to go for bathing, and they were expensive to build. But now people demand pool at home so that they can bathe whenever they want. Swimming is best exercise for whole body. Now a days we can control streamlines of pool for exercising purpose. It is not as easy as it seems to build swimming pools. Everything is kept in mind while designing and building of swimming pools.

The best thing that should be kept in mind while designing is right selection of pool tiles. Pool titles are valuable in different shapes, sizes and material in market. While selecting tiles, each factor is negotiated properly with dealer so that you may get best tiles that look good in pools. Shapes and sizes of tiles are selected on basics of your own choice and interest. But main factor that matters a lot while selecting tiles is its material. Materials should be all time durable, long lasting and resistant to crack. Water pressure should not affect tiles. Low maintenance is also a key factor of selecting tiles. We can classify tiles on basics of material selection as follows:

1-Porcelain tiles

Pool owners use porcelain tiles in most common as they are easy to clean. Their softness provide people a special touchy feeling of ease and comfortable while touching porcelain tiles. Porcelain is best for wet surfaces as of its unique property of water-resistant. One of disadvantage of using porcelain tiles is that they can be broken easily with some blunt forces but they can be replace easily as these tiles are cheap.  

2-Glass Tiles:

One thing that comes in mind when hearing about glass is that glass is fragile and weak to hold some strong forces. But it is totally misconception about glass fragility. Using Glass in swimming pool make it, to look stunning, shinning, and beautiful and clean like a sky. Fitting of glass in swimming pool is time consuming and expensive. People avoid glass tiles due to its slippery nature. It is very tough task to stand on glass tiles as compared to other ones.

3-Stone Tiles:    

Stone tiles are best option to provide natural and sensational feeling of natural flowing pool or steams having full of stones. These tiles are natural, beautiful, hard, scratch proof than porcelain tiles. Different types of stone tiles such as granite, onyx and marble are easily available. As these tiles absorb more water so they are treated with water before installation in swimming pools.

4-Brick Tiles: 

We can install brick in swimming pools as tiles. They are made without any groove for pools. They are usually of red colors but in other colors, they are also available. Water can penetrate and damage brick tiles if these are not properly sealed.

5-Mosaic Tiles:

Mosaic tiles give wonderful and amazing look to your swimming pool when you install mosaic tiles as they add color to your swimming pool. These tiles are of different colors, designs and sizes. Different pictures can be made with mosaics tiles in swimming pools such as you can have dolphin picture in bottom of your swimming pool. It is recommended to clean mosaic tiles every two years to remove algae, mold and other layers deposited on these tiles.

 

Pool Coping is edging that is mounted around the edge of swimming pool to provide protection to the pool structure. When pool coping is done in a proper way then it prevent splashed water to come back in pool. It is necessary part of pool structure which protects the pool wall and shell from water damage. There are following types of pool coping is done on basics of material used:

1-Poured Concrete Coping:

Poured Concrete consists of water, cement, gravel and sand whose mixture in poured into form work. It gives ultimately finish with look of continuous line of one unit. It makes airtight, and waterproof one piece seal on top of swimming pool.

2-Precast Concrete Coping:

In precast concrete coping, there is a single unit. It offers choice of wide range of patterns, colors and patterns. It has splendid styles, patterns and designs. Precast concrete coping is cheaper than poured concrete

For 30 feet wide or long pool, poured concrete coping is used. It has expensive and high labor cost but it will give you durable results and its beautiful to look on.
